A explicação

Desculpem por ir em inglês. É a explicação para o mau tempo na travessia Cocos/Mauricias.
Having recently completed the Cocos Island to Reunion crossing, I thought you may be interested to know that the rough weather you encountered was just the start of what is turning into an early and active cyclone season. Since your passage a category 1 cyclone formed then died midway between Cocos and Mauritius. And now we have Category 2C Anggrek threatening Cocos Islands with the prospects being that it will be Category 3 by the time it gets close to the islands. Cocos rarely experiences cyclones of this intensity. The current warning indicates the winds around Anggrek are likely to average near 80 knots with gusts to 115 knots close to the time the cyclone is due to pass by Cocos Islands - around this time tomorrow. So it is very good that you are all safely heading across towards Richards Bay at the moment. The reason for this abnormally early and active cyclone season is that the Indian Ocean Dipole ( a large scale oscillation of the ocean and atmosphere) is in a phase that produces abnormally warm water in the region from Cocos Islands across to Sumatra where these cyclones first form. Fortunately this same pattern keeps the Mozambique Channel quiet at this time of the year.
